Hello and Welcome

This blog began on 23 September and after receiving a very charitable review by Hugh Neal on Sunday's "Arthur Pewty's Maggot Sandwich", I have been visited by ever increasing numbers so I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all my new fans. Because I am new to all this blogging lark, I am bound to make a few mistakes and am still struggling with the technology. I would like to put my profile on the blog but whenever I try, it appears as a row of single word lines down the side of the page. If anyone knows how to fix this and is inclined to tell me, I would be most grateful.

I am still trying to decide how best to present the page, whether to save everything up for a weekly blog like Hugh's Maggot Sandwich or use Malcolm Knight's preferred method of putting stuff out as it arrives as he does in his political "Bexley is Bonkers" blog. I think for now I will publish as and when I feel inclined and see how it develops. Please feel free to leave comments which you can do by scrolling to the bottom of each post and clicking where it says 'no comment' or 'comments'; this will open up a new window for you to leave anything you want to say. I'm sorry if you already know this but it took me a while to work it out and there may be others out there who are just as baffled by it all. You can also email me directly at 'the.thamesmead.grump@gmail.com'

If anyone has anything they would like me to report or investigate, you can contact me at that address.

  1. Hello - I'm not sure if you're a friendly neighbour or The Competition, as I have my own Thamesmead blog over here: http://www.hawkida.net/thamesmead

Welcome to the world of blogging. I'm still trying to figure out how to grow an audience and stay motivated, myself, but I'm getting there. Slowly.

  2. Definitely the competition [g]. Seriously, thank you for the welcome. I think our approaches could best be described as complimentary. I'm sure we will be friends. I will also make sure I mention your blog in my next post

  3. Mentions are all good. I've added you to my "blogroll" and mentioned you in my latest piece. I think having someone else writing about the area regularly will actually be good motivation to keep me updating myself.

On another subject - the problems you're having adding your profile may be down to the template you're using - have a dig around the Blogger dashboard looking at the layout options, they have some quite sophisticated tools for making things look prettier.
